Haute New Salon in Bee Cave, Ringlets & Sass, Revitalizes the Old Backyard
Your salon is a true family affair with a big vision. What inspired you to open and partner with Salon U owner, Katy?
I owned an amazing, successful salon Aura Hair Studio in Salt Lake City that I decided to sell after moving here with my family and falling in love with this community. We truly feel like we finally found ‘our home’. I found there was a real need in the community to provide a comfortable space for guests and stylists that reflect the beauty of the area and provide the experience customers expect and desire. The timing was ideal, Katy Kinney, owner of Salon U in Lakeway, happened to be looking for a better location for her team and customers. Since we both dreamed of creating a positive, welcoming, happy culture and environment, we welcomed Katy and team with open arms!
What haute services do you offer women and men?
We specialize in women, men and children’s cuts including colors, blow outs, curly and formal styles, makeup and bridal party services. With our collective experience and being a seasoned DevaCurl, Third generation stylist, we stand out with our unique variety of services. In New York City, in 2005, I trained with Lorraine Massey (author of ‘Curly Girl, The Handbook’) herself, and now training my staff in the unique ways of helping all Curly hair peeps out.
The transformation and redesign of this location is absolutely stunning and you have even bigger visions for it. Give us the haute scoop!
To truly revolutionize the salon experience, we needed a unique property. We wanted to find an existing stand-alone building in the area, with our goal to be the top Hill Country Salon destination; we wanted something different, not an ordinary shopping center location. We were so excited that the space had windows everywhere providing the natural light that stylists require. We found all of this at the Old Backyard, a property that had amazing potential and a rich iconic history. My vision for design was to bring in new to add to the old, keeping certain aspects in place that leave the hill country feel and stories of the history here. You can feel the spirits and energy of the old live oak concerts. To have a back patio that overlooks the park, it is truly peaceful and serene. We are expecting more changes to occur for the rest of the property and are excited that we are helping bring the Backyard back to life.
